Omega 3 Complex helps in better functioning of a body and this fatty acid is found maximum in fish and the person who takes fish can help in lowering heart problem and in long run lowers the level of cholesterol. The marine fishes that are high in fatty acid content are sardines, mackerel and trout are the most vital source of Omega 3 Complex.

What Are Normal Blood Glucose And Blood Sugar Levels

There are various methods to determine blood glucose level. Some tests give you accurate diagnosis of diabetes or pre-diabetes, while others will tell you how well you are managing your diabetes.

Fasting Blood Sugar Test:
Measures the blood sugar level after 8 hours fast or overnight. Normal fasting blood glucose level is less than 100mg/dl. If your fasting blood glucose level is from 100mg/dl to 125mg/dl then you will have impaired blood glucose level also known as Pre-Diabetes. If your blood glucose level is above 125mg/dl then your doctor will diagnose as a patient of diabetes. To confirm the diagnosis, your doctor may repeat the fasting blood glucose test on any other day. If you have blood glucose level of 126mg/dl or higher in two consecutive tests, then you may have diabetes. If you have blood glucose level greater than 200mg/dl and you have symptoms of diabetes like increased thirst or hunger, frequent urination, weight loss, blurred vision etc, then you may be diagnosed with diabetes mellitus without confirming it with second test.

Random Blood Glucose Test:
Random blood Glucose test gives your blood sugar at any time in a day. Normal random blood sugar level should be less than 200mg/dl. If your random blood glucose level is between 140mg/dl to 200mg/dl then you will have pre-diabetes.

Oral glucose tolerance test
This test measures your response to sugar. First we measure fasting blood glucose level, and then glucose solution is given, after that we measure blood glucose after 1 hour and 2hours. A normal blood glucose level after an oral glucose tolerance test is less than 140 mg/dL. Level between 140 mg/dL to 199 mg/dL suggests pre-diabetes. A blood glucose level of 200 mg/dL or higher two hours after you drink the glucose solution may suggest that you have diabetes mellitus.

Glycated hemoglobin (A1C) test
This test is not for diagnosing diabetes, but it shows you how well you have controlled your sugar in last 2 or 3 months. Normal value is less than 7%, however if it is more than 7 then you and your doctor should think of changing your treatment of diabetes.

Always Remember, your blood glucose measurement alone is not enough to differentiate between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Your doctor may do some other tests to find out which type of diabetes you have.

One thing for sure you are headed down the path that leads to diabetes.. 250 pounds is very overweight. This is #1 cause of type 2 diabetes. You need a low glycemic diet. Now. And exercise 30 minutes a day everyday. Please!!!! We don’t want you to have the misery that we have. And I mean it. Pain and suffering. At least 13 years off life span. When diagnosed with diabetes , you start out as if you already had your first heart attack. Please do something about your weight.

Good luck my friend, stay healthy.

Diabetes “normal” blood sugar levels?

I have done a lot of reading online about what normal results are for blood sugar levels and the majority of health sites seem to say 70 to 100.

I test myself with a home kit about once a week because diabetes runs in my family. My lowest was 62 and my highest is never over 71. I seem to get the number 69 a lot. I test in the afternoons, at least two hours after I have eaten lunch, as suggested on different sites for the most accurate reading.

Should I be considered that my blood sugar is constantly on the low side, even though I am only one point from what it considered normal on average?

It is low but fine if you feel good
generally, you did not say if your tests are fasting tests or after breakfast by 2 hours because it is how diagnostic opinion should depend on
however, here are the most normal readings:
1) fasting for at least 8 hours= from 70 to 100 mg/dl
2) hours after breakfast (after starting to eat and eating should not take more than 15 minutes) = less than 140 mg/dl
3) any Random test not precisely dependent of eating = less than 200 mg/dl

Blood glucose level staying relatively low after eating?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently bought a home testing kit for diabetes.
Ive not yet seen a doctor as ive moved miles away from my hometown and haven’t yet registered with a new doctor.

Ive always been curious about my blood sugar levels as a few times after not eating for a few hours, i all of a sudden feel really weak, dizzy, sick, cant stand, start sweating like mad and just dont feel good at all.
It sometimes happens after a night of heavy drinking aswell.

I looked this up and it came up as low blood sugar symptoms.

Ive been testing throughout the day, and the results always come between 4.9 – 5.5 which is good. I dont usually eat hearty meals throughout the day, just little snacks.

But when i have eaten a proper meal, ill test an hour later, hour and half, and 2hours later.. just because im unsure when the best time to test is.
And the results come up around 5.4/5.5 everytime.

Is that low after eating a proper meal? Or is it nothing to worry about?

Cheers.

If the blood sugar levels are not rising much after snacks, then it is a good signal of healthy pancreas

Advice from a doctor please?

a few weeks ago, i kinda blacked out, my family have a history of diabetes so my dad got his home blood sugar level kit out, and my blood sugar was 4.7, is that normal for a 16 year old for about 2PM? now 3/4 weeks after that, i have dropped almost 4 inches off my waist, i was in 34inch waist jeans, and now 32 inch ones are on the large side. I have a blood test scheduled for next friday, however i have a huuuuge phobia of needles and will probably end up bottling it. Should i be worried by my condition?
thank you all in advance x

First, i understand your fear of needles. I have the same thing and understand that when getting bloodwork done (i have three kids), its a must do kind of thing.
I usually take along my husband and my sister (to watch the kids and hold my hand lol), and end up gritting my teeth, shaking and crying through the whole experience.
I would recommend that you take some physical support with you and grit your teeth and get it done. Your health is important enough to muscle through a phobia.

Second, 4.7 glucose level? My husband has type 1 diabetes and tells me that 114 is a normal level for his blood sugar. 4.7 is extremely low unless youre using a metric meter (do those even exist?).

Again, I would go to the doctor with some physical support and muscle through the needle prick.
Good luck.

Health related questions (Help!)?

In short…
A few months back we thought I had hypoglycemia. Symptoms being: Headaches, eye pain, mood changes mostly pending on food, shaky with out food, chronic fatigue etc… We recently got a kit to test blood sugar levels and they are usually between 125 and 145, once it was 163. Would this be considered “impaired glucose tolerance” more close to diabetes or is this normal range? (19 years old, female, 125 pounds) I have no health insurance at this time and am looking for advice. I have a few health things going on. Others being on my period 3 weeks a month, off one week a month. I’ve never been one to be tired but lately I need more sleep. Mood swings. I do have to eat something every hour or everything gets worse (Shaky, head ache, mood swings, depressed, tired, weak, behind my eyes hurt, dizzy, most symptoms of hypoglycemia) Any ideas, help? Advice?
Also starting a few months back I have had on and off bad sharp abdominal pains everywhere from my upper thigh to rib cage in various locations. Seems to be kept under control with fibrous food and plenty of water, for the most part.

Skeletal weakness leads to fractures with minor or inapparent trauma, particularly in the thoracic and lumbar spine, wrist, and hip. Acute or chronic back pain is common. Diagnosis is by dual-energy x‑ray absorptiometry. Prevention and treatment involve Ca and vitamin D supplements, exercises to maximize bone and muscle strength and minimize the risk of falls, and drug therapy to preserve bone mass or stimulate new bone formation.
Bone mass or density is lost as people age, especially in women after menopause. The bones lose calcium and other minerals.

If you’ve reported your scores properly…that is your T scores are all + 1.233 and +.908 then that is very good…you have nice dense bones. The Z scores compare you to others your same age & gender, etc..As those appear to be + 3.6 and +2.2, you have considerable denser bones than other women your age. You are not at a greater risk for fracture. You should be receiving a written interpretation from the radiologist. Call and ask for one if you don’t. They shouldn’t just be handing out numbers without an interpretation & recommendations.

Just how bad can the T score get? He had me so shook up, I couldn’t think to ask him the questions I should have asked. I’ll see him again but for now can anyone reassure me at all? Would pills like Fosamax, Evista or Boniva work at all with the severity of my osteoporosis or do I have to freak myself out trying to decide which of the shots to go for when all I read are horror stories about their side effects. Thanks in advance for any support you may give me.

Number One Fan answers:

In making a choice for treatment, the benefits must outweigh the risks.
Your osteoporosis is severe enough for you to get either spontaneous bone breakage or compression fractures of the spine; not good. Compression fractures do not heal, are very painful, and disabling.
If I was you, I’d go for the medication.

Get the enteric coated Omega 3 fish oil supplement when there is a two for one sale at the local pharmacy/drug store or super market; or, eat fatty fish, even canned salmon. Better to spend the money on ocean caught, fatty fish plus flax oil, olive oil and leafy greens for those important nutrients. If you make these healthy changes from now on, you will have a better chance at living a disease free, long life. The cod liver oil I was forced to eat as a young child has given me strong bones, teeth, good skin, a full head of hair and a respect for the gifts from the sea.

Number One Fan answers:

The best source of Omega 3 in from real, natural food. Hemp seeds taste delicious and they’re a great source of omega 3. You can also throw some almonds in the blender with some water and strain it to make a milky drink rich in Omega 3. You can also use ground flax seeds in baking muffins and other foods as a good source of Omega 3.

Omega 3 oils are inherently unstable and will oxidize more quickly than any other kind of fat. Oxidized oils are a source of free radicals and will also deplete your body’s vitamin E. This is why Omega 3 oils are best purchased as whole seeds, this way the seed naturally protects the omega 3 oils and these fragile oils will last longer. They also have not been processed or refined in any way.

Anyone had negative reaction while taking EFAS(Essential Fatty Acids)?

I recently started supplementing with fish, borage and flaxseed oil ya know, to keep a healthy heart. Now that I have ceased supplement with these particular supplements, the breakouts have stopped. I was just curious has anyone else ever had this reaction to supplementing with these Fatty Acids?

Number One Fan answers:

When you take these supplements you must realize that only a portion of the oil is EFA. The rest is an oil of some type. Your acne was likely due to the increased amount of oil in your diet. The best form of omega 3 fa’s is fish oil. There is a fish oil from costco, Nature Made and others that has a higher density of omega 3 to the oil in the tablet. If you take this you will be getting more EFA and less oil in your diet. I take this form and I like it a lot, just a little more expensive but worth it.

You can take the fish oil pills, those are a great supplement to eating fish. However, you should call your doctor before taking it and make sure that it’s okay….just like taking any other medication while you are pregnant. I heard the same, so I went and bought the fish oil pills, and on the bottle it says to consult your doctor before taking if you are pregnant.

Is it safe to take Omega-3 Fish Oil Pills during pregnancy if they contain mackerel?

Okay, so I’m 5 weeks pregnant and know that Omega-3 fatty acid fish oil pills help with brain and eye development for baby if you take them while pregnant, so I bought some. I took it home and realized that it contains anchovy, cod, sardine, and Mackerel. I read that mackerel contains high mercury content and thats definitely one of the fish pregant women should refrain from eating. But the bottle says that the pills were “molecularly distilled to remove pesticide, PCBs, and heavy metals.” So do you think they’re safe to take while pregnant since they say they distill them to remove heavy metals (such as mercury)?
Would you use the The Baby Gender Mentor kit to determine the sex of your baby when you are 5 weeks pregnant?

The mail-in kit cost $25 and then you pay a lab fee of $250 for the lab to process it within 48 hours. And then you can log in to the website and find out the gender of your baby. It is 99.9% accurate since it determined by your examining your blood.

You can find out the baby’s gender 5 weeks after you conceived. By doing the test you can find out 3 months earlier than going to the doctor’s for an ultrasound, and ultrasounds are not as accurate as a blood test.

I was so excited about being pregnant I really wanted to know what I was having so I could start preparing. I had to give a small blood sample when I was 2 months pregnant and it came back saying I was having a girl. I was over the moon but I’ve since heard that these tests aren’t really very accurate at all. Can anyone help?

Number One Fan answers:

Wow that is one very interesting site at DNA Worldwide – I had no idea, had never heard of such a test but the way they explain it makes sense to me. It is a tad on the pricey side too!!! I am American and am not used to using pounds but its like 189 pounds which i think is kinda steep. The only thing you can do is wait for your ultrasound and see what they say. But Im saying its a 90% chance its a girl if the stuff they said was accurate at all .

Tell me pink or blue gender test accuracy?

Has anybody used the tell me pink or blue dna gender test? It is not the intelligender where you pee in a cup and it changes color. You actually prick your finger and it looks for the presence of x or y chromosomes. I guess by 10 weeks your babys blood is mixed some with yours through the cord. Babies blood gets passed into your blood stream. If your test shows just x chromosomes its a girl. x and y its a boy. Has anybody tried this?? I have the kit but dont wanna spend 150 bucks it it is innacurate. It says it is 95% accurate and if the u/s shows something else u get ur money back. I know they have had issues in 07 but I guess they improved their instructions and test. Anybody?
I am not looking for the jack or jill test. There is one called tell me pink or blue. I believe it essentally does the same thing.
